‘TITANS’ S2E05: ‘Deathstroke’ SPOILER Review

Oh boy! It really feels like these episodes are getting better and better with every week! Let’s talk about the good and the bad from this week’s Titans. THE GOOD Deathstroke- The arrowverse may have it’s own Slade Wilson, but THIS guy right here is THE Deathstroke. My GOD DC Universe has done such a good job at bringing this character to life; his calm yet chilling speech, his tactics, his ruthlessness, and his determination are just spot-on. As fans of the Titans we know that there was no way Slade was teaming up with Dr. Light because he actually respected or admired him. He was clearly just trying to use him as trigger bait for the team, and once he wasn’t willing to fall in line to Slade’s wishes-BAM. Light’s out (yes, I did that). Light and Aqualad were minor characters in the frame of the show, but they are pretty big deals within the Titans property. Their deaths have only further established to me that anyone here is fair game. At least, that’s …

‘TITANS’ 2×04: ‘Aqualad’

It is Monday so that means it is time for another review/rant on the latest episode of DC Universe’s, Titans! THE GOOD Varsity Team: So, for the first time this week we got to visit the good old days(?) when the original Titans members occupied the tower. We had Dick once again in his Robin suit, Hawk, Dove, Donna Troy, and, a new face, Aqualad! I enjoyed getting to see the original team assembled for the entire episode as it heavily implied that we would be getting the answers as to what happened that made them all go their separate ways. The opening fight sequence with the five was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the banter among them as well. Now, if I’m being honest, some stuff did fall flat. They’re just not that fun of a group! I know, I know, this is SERIOUS Titans, but still! The five don’t really seem to have all that much chemistry between them besides the fact that they’re unreasonably attractive. Yet, overall, I did really enjoy …

‘Titans’ 2×03: ‘Ghosts’ Review

Another week so another episode of Titans! No time to waste; the good and the bad of the latest episode of the DC Universe sophomore season. THE GOOD Varsity Team Together: In this weeks episode our veteran members return to Titans Tower in order to address the threat of Doctor Light! As mentioned last week, once again that foundation laid out in season one shows its benefit here; We already know our characters and their relationships so when this plot shows up we can just get right into it! Dove unfortunately returned to her passive supporting voice to Hawk’s (justified?) frustration, but whatever. I’m glad to see not just the four of them working together, but to see the JV team continue training and continue to master their skills. They felt like nomads in season one and finally we’re getting to see superheroes be-well- super! Baddie Duo: Of course, respect is owed to the scenes with Doctor Light and Slade. I still can’t believe we’re getting a live-action series with all these characters!! Now  I’m wondering, with …

‘TITANS’ 2×02: Rose

I’m back to talk the latest episode of Titans. Is it an improvement from season one and the “meh” season premiere? The GOOD Love a Teen Drama: Something I talked about at the conclusion of the first season was how the entire thing felt more like a prologue/introduction instead of a complete story. As a comic fan it was fine for me. I believed doing this was certainly creating a mediocre first season, but it was also setting up an exceptional foundation for the future. This second episode is allowing me to see some of the rewards of that base. I had a great time seeing Jason and Gar train, getting to see more of Gar and Raven’s awkward relationship unfold, getting to see more of Donna and Kory interact, and even just seeing everyone hanging out at the luxurious Titans tower! This season the showrunners have created two groups; Titans and Teen Titans. This is perfect. Taking me back to the most recent comics set-up. Dick, Donna, Hank, Dawn, and Kory are now in …

‘TITANS’ Season 2 Premiere; Did it Deliver?

Alright, this was a messy one. Let’s begin! Let’s go through the good, the bad, and all thing Titans season premiere! The GOOD Deathstroke: Deathstroke made his debut at the end of this episode and, not only is he a DILF, but he is a latin one. Amen! We got our look at his uniform, the white hair, and the iconic eyepatch. I’m really rooting for Esai Morales (Slade Wilson) in this role because season one had a severe villain problem. Us comic fans know this is THE Titans villain and I’m excited to see where they go. A big plus is that we’ll be meeting Ravager and Jericho this season as well which should give even more weight to Morales’ portrayal. Donna Troy Suited: My Wonder Girl is Donna Troy. When she premiered in season one I prayed to the nerd gods we would get to see her in the red and gold-star uniform. Thus, my prayers have been answered! Of course, that was somewhat of a daydream flashback(?) and what clips we have …

‘Swamp Thing’ Teaser Drops: What is Going On?

Only a day after production on DC Universe’s upcoming live-action series Swamp Thing was abruptly stopped, a teaser trailer was dropped on the internet! Is this damage control? You bet it is! Either way, we have our first look at the protector of the green as he emerges from the murky swamp. DC Universe seems to once again be saying, “F#$^@ the kids!” This dude looks SCARY. At the very least he looks like a grade-A monster from Are You Afraid of the Dark.  Swamp Thing is certainly a lesser known DC property. I would say he was brought to the height of his potential during the 1980’s comic run by the brilliant Alan Moore. I would assume based on this teaser that the series is going to lean a bit more into the horror elements. Fine by me! However, it seems the long running theme of the streaming service is to not create any original content for children! Titans was heavy on the gore, Doom Patrol drops F-bombs left and right, and Young Justice …
