‘Lando’ Likely the Subtle ‘Solo’ Sequel?

We are so far away from getting new Star Wars content, but I am still covering as much as I can about these new show announcements. I have expressed my hope that the upcoming limited series, Lando, will be smart enough to use both Donald Glover and Billy Dee Williams’ Calrissian. A story that uses the nonlinear format (a technique used in other popular shows such as Lost, Orange is the New Black, How to Get Away with Murder, and so many others) would be a real treat to see used in the Star Wars canon. Now, out of all the shows announced Lando is the only one that has the chance to take place (even if partially) in the post-sequel trilogy timeframe. Some might want to fight on this but I believe that if they choose to NOT include Billy Dee Williams in the project or use him only in a narrator position (something like The Wonder Years) then I think the sequel trilogy should brace for a Death Star shot in the face. …

Could Legends Icon Darth Revan Make His Way to ‘The Acolyte’

Favreau and Filoni by this point can certainly be considered the godfathers of a galaxy far far away. Kicking off last year with a fairly mysterious series (which I admit I was indifferent too) they have been able to pull-off the same magic that Ironman did in 2008; launch a phenomenon. Now, with the Star Wars expanded universe continuing to go deeper with upcoming shows for Disney+ it’s safe to wonder if lesser known fan favorites could be up for play in the hands of these geniuses. One character in particular that has me stroking my imaginary beard would be Legends character Darth Revan… Now, off the bat, According to his video game appearances, this character would have lived thousands of years before the events of the prequel trilogy rather than just some hundreds as The Acolyte will be set in. However, despite the character’s popularity we have to acknowledge that his video game stories are technically not canon in the Star Wars mythos. Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker didn’t give anything to the contrary, …

Are We Ready for Luke Skywalker Recasting?

The Mandalorian season 2 finale may arguably be some of the best Star Wars content in recent years. From Din taking hold of the darksaber, Boba Fett and Bo Katan joining the action, and of course the special rescue cameo of Luke Skywalker himself the episode was one to remember. Since Grogu sat on the stone to call out for the Jedi my assumptions had rested on Ezra Bridger (Star Wars: Rebels) to be the one to answer the call. The reasoning for this is the presence of Ahsoka and Bo-Katan (two other animated characters who made the jump to live-action) and the obvious recognition that Mark Hamill has since aged significally away from Luke’s age around this time of the continuity (28-29). To our delight we got to see the single black glove and green lightsaber take apart the dark troopers in Darth Vader‘s Rogue One fashion. To top it off, the hood is removed and we see, gasp, a CGI Luke! Now, was it the best CGI face I’ve seen? Of course not. …

‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Finale Breakdown; What’s Happening Next Year!?

WHAT a season finale to The Mandalorian. There is so much to unpack from this! Therefore wasting no time- let’s break it down. Grogu: After sixteen chapters it would appear that our time with the baby Yoda has come to a close. Luke Skywalker (we’ll get to him in a moment) was the jedi to answer Grogu’s call. He single handedly destroys the dark troopers and takes the young one to be trained as a Jedi. Is this goodbye? Well, Yoda lived over 900 years. By the events of The Force Awakens it seems that either Grogu is long gone from Luke’s attempts to revive the Order or he was murdered by Kylo and the Knights of Ren. With the insane popularity surrounding him and the confirmation of four (?) Star Wars series around this time period, I am in high doubts that this is the last we’ll see of our little green friend. I’m sure within the chunk of shows coming in the near future he will be very much alive and well. I …

Should Bo-Katan Really Rule Mandalore…?

I don’t know if this has been given any thought, but as we’ve progressed through Clone Wars, Rebels, and now The Mandalorian it has slowly started to dawn on me that Bo-Katan might not be the best choice for leader. Let’s review. 1: She was a Member of Death Watch: Alright, she believed that Mandalore should honor it’s warrior legacy and abandon the pursuits of pacifism. She believed this so much that she was against her sister… the ruler… She helped Pre Vizsla basically stage a coup only to find they were dooped by Maul who takes the darksaber, Deathwatch, and Mandalore… Good job. 2: Regent for Five Seconds then Dips: After they remove Maul from power Bo-Katan is made Regent. Rightfully so as she was the sister of Satine. Of course, Order 66 happens, the Empire rises, and s*** goes south again. Now, the Empire OFFERED to let Bo-Katan stay in her seat but, not wanting to be a puppet of the empire, she peaced out and Mandalore got Gar Saxon as viceroy. Sure, …
