‘Snyderverse’ To Continue as Comic?

In the past few days we have seen official word from Warner execs saying that the investment in Snyder’s Justice League is nothing more than a one and done thing. Though Wonder Woman has a third film coming down the line, and Aquaman has an anticipated sequel in the works as well, there is no other sign of Snyder’s DCEU continuing. Yes, Ezra Miller’s Flash will be getting a solo movie but this is a unique case. We know that his film will adapt the famous Flashpoint to some degree, but it ultimately will achieve the same purpose as the iconic book; restart the DC film universe. Earlier today Ray Fisher has voiced his intention to no longer return to the DC film universe so long as the current executives at the studio remain in place. This leaves Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman. For Cavill, his fate is very much up in the air- no pun intended. JJ Abrams will be taking on the next Superman project but he has yet to confirm …

Ray Fisher Done with DC With Current Execs; Cyborg Likely Gone

Ray Fisher has gone on record to state that he has no interest of continuing to work with Warner so long as the curent executives in place remain. I understand this commentary came in response to Warner’s statement confirming that their future slate of films have no intention of bringing back Fisher’s Cyborg. Fisher has been a constant voice against abuses conducted on the set of Justice League during reshoots and, safe to say, a thorn in Warner’s paw these last few months. Their decision to omit him is not surprising and neither is it a shock that he would want to step away from further projects. Recently, it has also been reported that the current heads at the studio have NO plans to move forward with Snyder’s work (JL Trilogy) after their $70 million investment for his version of Justice League due out some time next March. It is best to take this news as a grain of salt for now… Things can change after all! From what reports are showing as of December …

DCEU Movies Ranked

With the release of WW84 it felt only appropriate to rank all nine DCEU movies. Now, there is no error with the list below, Joker was intentionally omitted as it does not appear to be connected to the larger interconnected universe; at least not yet, right Flashpoint? 9. Josstice League: Look, it’s just not the movie that the creative intended to make. When I first saw Justice League in theaters after seeing the reviews I looked to like it. In some ways I was able to! Though when I went back to see BvS some time later I was baffled at just how different the tone of this movie is compared to what Zack had created prior. Hopefully the Snyder Cut can score higher on the list when it officially replaces this verson. 8. Suicide Squad: Yet another project tampered with by the studio…I don’t completely hate this movie. It had some good elements where the cast is the biggest one. I loved what we saw for Harley and Joker, Smith as Deadshot was great, …

‘WW84’ Mixed Reviews; Where Does She Go From Here?

As of this morning Wonder Woman 1984 stands ay 67% on Rotten Tomatoes; a considerable decrease compared to its predecessor. As my review shows- I and recognize some of the very obvious issues it has, but I still enjoyed it! Aside from the problems of the movie my thoughts have gone towards the future. It’s ironic that the character that saved the DCEU after rough performances from Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman could now finds herself in an awkward position. Jenkins’ Schedule: As of right now Patty Jenkins has some other projects on the calendar that will be priority over any potential Wonder Woman 3. Those movies are Cleopatra, which will also star Gal Gadot, and the recently announced Rogue Squadron for Disney. These commitments could make it likely that a Wonder Woman 3 might not hit theaters for another 3-4 years! The question becomes is that a wait the studio is going to be willing to commit to, especially if this film does indeed fall below the 60% line. Worst case scenario, these …

Cheetah and the DCEU (SPOILERS)

I just finished streaming Wonder Woman 1984 on HBOMax and I want to waste no time diving into it. Now, my actual review will be up in a bit, but I wanted to first tackle one of my biggest questions going into this; what could we expect for Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah going forward? Barbara finally made her transformation into the iconic Wonder Woman villain for the third act of the film. Personally, I feel the CGI work was a bit choppy and it relied heavily on the lighting of the scene to cover that up, but I digress. I think Wiig did a great job with the character across the board. For what few still shots we had of her in full Cheetah I think it looked nice, badass, and worthy of the role. As she and Diana faced off (in the dark) I wasn’t rooting for Cheetah to win, but I was PRAYING for her not to die. Cheetah is like Wonder Woman’s Joker. Aquaman’s Black Manta; Superman’s Luthor! You get my point. The …

Snyder Promoting Release of the ‘Ayer Cut’; Of Course He Is!

Earlier today multiple sources on twitter reported that Zach Snyder has not only voiced his support for the release of the Ayer Cut of 2016’s Suicide Squad, but that he also planned to meet with the director about it! What that meeting could specifically lead to right now is anybody’s guess, but I’m sure it will likely include some collaboration on how to push this forward. Snyder voicing his support for the Ayer Cut makes complete sense. Once upon a time the director was not only set to create his five connecting films (Man of Steel, BvS, and three Justice League films) but was also set to sit on the top to oversee the DCEU. Even though the theatrical version of Suicide Squad was far from what Ayer originally intended that the version still communicated how connected it was to the larger story Snyder was trying to tell; it opens with a discussion of a dead Superman and features Affleck’s Batman for crying out loud! We don’t want to get too cocky after fan demands …

Snyder Cut Updates; Jared Leto Returns and the Future of the Snyderverse

We have yet to receive an offical release date for Zach Snyder’s ultimate version of Justice League for HBOMax in 2021. Yet, as the announcements continue to hit the internet, my suspicions are leaning towards a Q2 release at the earliest. Back in May it seemed this thing would be a three-hour movie at best with some additional investment to complete post-production work; man is that NOT how this thing is shaping up! So what is confirmed, what’s pending, what’s rumored, and what’s not happening(for now)? Let’s talk about it! Jared Leto Returning: It was announced today that Jared Leto would indeed be reprising his role for the Snyder Cut! To what capacity would he be involved in the four-part miniseries is not confirmed, however, I think it’s safe to assume it won’t be for anything larger than a cameo appearance/one-and-done action sequence. Leto joining the project, just as reshoots have started up, nearly confirms what we’re really looking at here with this project; this isn’t a “pick up where they left off and release …

Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ Green Lantern Should Be John Stewart

There are still some years from now and the day that Ezra Miller’s Flash hits the reboot button on the DC Extended Universe. Such a reboot will inevitably see Snyder’s Green Lantern and Darkseid potentially merge with, or be cancelled out by, Ava Duvernay’s interpretation and the Green Lantern series coming to HBOMax. I am over the moon excited to know that Green Lantern is officially joining the team for the Snyder Cut (it isn’t JL without a Lantern, I’m sorry) and won’t just make a brief cameo at the end of the movie as originally thought. However, rumors have been leaning towards Hal Jordan joining the rest of the cast; I don’t think this is the way to go. John Stewart is your man and here’s why; 1: Current Lantern in the Book: I believe that if you’re trying to figure out where the studio might be headed character-wise then the comics is a great place to start collecting hints. Since 2018, when Scott Snyder took over Justice League and relaunched the title with …

‘Justice League’ Getting $70 Million in Additional Photography; What’s It All For?

Earlier this year came the announcement that Zack Snyder’s Justice League would get its demanded debut exclusivey on HBOMax. The announcement came with the details that there would be a $20 million investment in order to finish post-production on the “already completed” principal photography. As of yesterday it seems things have changed! The Snyder Cut is now set to receive $70 million that includes a week of reshoots with the main cast… Let’s break this down. 1:The Issue: Look, let’s just address the elephant in the room; the studio did not like what Snyder originally created. They were not on board for Batman v Superman, the film had mixed responses from fans, and overwhelming negative reviews from critics. (To be fair, the theatrical cut of BvS was an absolute nightmare. The “ultimate edition” is not a bonus version of that film; it IS the film. The theatrical cut missed so much of the meat to that story that it ended up not making any sense when you saw it in theaters. I do think the …
