Episode 67 – Toxicity Report

Welcome BACK to the couch. After a week of seeing the twitterverse AFLAME with the Jada and Will drama, we decided to give our two cents on the entire ENTANGLEMENT. As we are a film and television podcast we figured this was a fantastic opportunity to segue into an episode all about movies highlighting toxic relationships because- why not? Join us as we discuss 500 Days of Summer (2009) starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel (0:22:45), The Breakup (2006) starring Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn (0:43:00), and a cinema classic Gone With the Wind (1939) starring Vivien Lee and Clark Gable (01:03:30). Join us for that and much more!

Episode 66 – The Mutant Pod

It is officially TWENTY years since the release of the first X-Men film; the spark that would begin the modern comic book era (don’t @ us). To celebrate we are revisiting the original trilogy (in our typical ‘all over the place’ fashion). Join us and our special guest host, Mags, as we talk about the three movies, comment on the later reboot films (its unavoidable), and give our two cents on the future of the X-Men within the MCU.  Stream the episode on Spotify below, Apple Podcasts, or Google Podcasts.

Episode 60 – A Pod Far Far Away

We did it folks, episode 60! Quite the accomplishment considering we were very convinced this would last only a month at inception. Join us as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of “Empire Strikes Back” with (yet another) sloppy discussion of the Star Wars franchise. Join us as we tackle topics like why Darth Vader ain’t shit, why adults pushing 40 should still see the animated Clone Wars series targeted for kids, and the future of the franchise at Disney+. Lastly, the Snyder Cut is a go at HBOMax, (01:04:38) so course we wrap with our two cents on that.

Episode 58 – Futurology

We’re back on the couch and at this point, we have assumed that there is going to be some sort of hiatus between every episode since we have no idea what we are doing! Anyway, on this installment of the 17 Waverly Podcast we are here going into a deep discussion into Steven Spielberg’s ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy. We start the episode dissecting the 3 movies and our favorite characters/moments, then we get into a time travel style conversation and even ask what moments in time we would go back and change. We then round off our episode with some recommendations of movies like ‘Snowpiercer’, ‘Free Solo’, and ‘Ex-Machina’. All that and much more, so come join us!

Episode 57 – The Temple of Corona

What day is it? What time is it? Who knows at this point, all we know is that its time hang out on the couch for an hour and chill w us here at the 17 Waverly Pod. This week we discuss a bunch of random things as we watch the movie ‘Deep Impact’. We start by revisiting the classic ‘Indiana Jones’ movies (00:11.30), we then discussed the need for Hollywood to bring back movies with a rag tag kid cast (00:18:00), movie theaters dying and our ideas for saving them (00:43:30), and much more!

Episode 56 – The Quarantine Pod

So take a pinch of our usual inconsistency and a gallon of pandemic and you have our most recent excuse for the hiatus! However, we are finally back on the couch in the midst of this nonsense to do our best to provide an hour of distraction – and fail. Join us as we panic with you about this virus, discuss a few of our favorite apocalypse films (0:26:30), the hilarious Netflix reality show ‘the Circle’ (0:43:00), Disney’s ‘Onward’ review (0:51:45), and then closing with a few recommendations for what to watch while you are all stuck at home! Joins us for all that and much more!

Episode 49 – So If Anyone Is Listening

This week the boys are back and there is a lot to unpack. The Golden Globes were this week so we start the episode discussing Ricky Gervais and the winners of the major awards (0:08:30). While we are on that subject, Rom gives his review of the movie ‘1917’ and tries to convince Gab to break his war movie boycott to see it (0:11:45). The big discussion of this episode then comes when we review the movie ‘Marriage Story’ on Netflix and talk about love (0:25:23). Please join us on the couch for all that and more, like the new trailer to ‘New Mutants’.
