‘Dark Phoenix’ SPOILER Review

SO, last night I took the chance to go see the LAST installment in the Fox X-Men Franchise, Dark Phoenix. Let’s just get this over with. The Good Opening:  I already had a bad feeling when I didn’t get to see the classic X-Men opening credit sequence with the wonderful theme that started in X2. At the same time, I guess that is primarily a Singer element. Oh well… The opening shows the X-Men heading into space to save some astronauts from an incoming “solar flare.” This sequence was wonderful. I was like, ok! We’re off to a good start! The X-Men together, going into space, using their powers together to save the day. I loved it.  There was even a moment as they were going up where Scott puts his hand on Jean’s shoulder and I’m like, yes. Scott and Jean. Finally. First Jean Encounter: When the X-Men go to confront Jean at her father’s house they have a pretty decent action sequence. I was all for it. Of course, the scene concludes with, the already …

‘Dark Phoenix’ Seems to Suck! Five Alternatives to Experience the Iconic Tale

So, late last night the first reviews for Fox’s last installment in their X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix, hit the internet. With the Disney acquisition, multiple release delays, and (once again) an obvious avoidance of the source material, it comes as no surprise that the Rotten Tomatoes score is as bad as it is. I have not seen the film yet, so I can’t bash it fairly. However, for fans of the Fox franchise, fans of the characters, and anyone just curious about the story of the Phoenix, I wanted to provide a list of some alternatives to experience the real deal! 1: Epic History X-Men: If you just want to get the gist of the story then your best bet would be to check out Comicbookgirl19’s Youtube documentaries, Epic History X-Men Volume’s 2 and 3. She does a FANTASTIC job of providing an easy to follow narrative of the comic’s story, includes wonderful voice-over using panels from the issues, and brings her own love for the story and the franchise to the projects. Recently, she …

Does the MCU Need the Multiverse to Bring the Mutants?

For those that have seen the most recent trailer for Spiderman: Far From Home you may have noticed the mention of one of the most geek fueled terms in all of comics. Yes, I’m talking about the MULTIVERSE. For those unfamiliar, this refers to the concept that our known universe is just one of an infinite amount! Each universe can contain replicas of us but never/not always identical in personality/story. For example, there can be a universe where the nazis won World War II. There could also be a universe where Gwen Stacie got bit by a radioactive spider and not Peter Parker. The possibilities are endless! Some people believe that this will be how the X-Men are brought into the MCU. This could be the case but in my opinion, I don’t think it’s necessary. Let’s look at the FACTS people! The Avengers Arrive: Unless you’ve lived under a rock you know that the original Avengers to fight Loki in 2011 were Ironman, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk. Ironman has no …
