MCU Phase 4: Ranking the List

We have ten projects announced for the two-year Marvel Phase four! With Saturday’s schedule announcement I thought it would be fun to break down the list and rank them from most excited to least. 1.Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness-The MCU is taking a page from Fox’s failed playbook; they’re going horror. Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of the first Doctor Strange. It felt to me like they played it safe with the mysticism and went more Inception than anything else.  With this announced sequel I have HOPE that we’re going to get more of the meat of what makes this character and his world so special. ALSO, Scarlet Witch will be co-staring in this film. I’m a huge Scarlet Witch fan. The more we get the happier I am. With Elizabeth Olsen slated to star in two MCU projects for phase four I am expecting that we will dive deeper into the true nature of her powers and what she’s capable of. 2. WandaVision-As just mentioned, I’m a Wanda fan. I was …

‘Blade’ Making His Return In the MCU

My nerd brain is going to explode. I cannot keep up! Ok, ok… Yesterday at Hall H we got a mic drop coming out of nowhere; Mahershala Ali has been cast to play Blade in the MCU for a phase 5 film. I. Cannot. Someone get the holy water because I have been TOUCHED. This is yet another casting announcement that has me scratching my head; why didn’t any of us see this before!? Well, I’m glad that Kevin Feige did! Though I too was on board for Wesley Snipes to reprise his role, I can  think of no one better to take it on moving forward. What an EXCELLENT way to end the panel for Marvel. There is no announcement for a release date. However, with Disney Expo coming next month, I’m sure we will be getting a more detailed release schedule as well as more big casting announcements.

Avengers Who? Prepare for The Ultimates

One fun piece of casting news over from the Marvel Studios panel in Hall H was the intriguing addition of (a personally highly anticipated) adult Monica Rambeau! Yes, Teyonah Parris will be joining the cast of Disney+ WandaVision in 2021. Well, correct me if I’m wrong, but this means we now have three of the five highlighted members of the superhero team, The Ultimates! Who are we missing? Why, thank you for asking. America Chavez and Blue Marvel are the final two members that need to appear in order for us to have the full all-star roster. Where can they make their appearance? This is where I’m stumped… America has too appeared as a member of the Young Avengers. Though I would love for her to join that band of misfits my hopes for her is to kick some ass with these other power houses. I have a VERY strong feeling that the Young Avengers will be making their debut in theaters for phase 5 of the MCU. With the X-Men and Fantastic Four confirmed …

Are The ‘Young Avengers’ Coming?

With the mountain of announcements from Hall H yesterday comes the news that Kate Bishop will be making her MCU debut in the upcoming Hawkeye series for Disney+. Hmm… With her introduction that brings us to two members of the Young Avengers making their live-action appearance (Cassie Lang all grown-up in Avengers: Endgame).  Will the young team make their way to theaters in phase 5? You bet your F****** a*** they are! Who is missing? Well, the team has consisted of several different players. I have a hunch on who will fill out the rest of the group… 1: Wiccan: Though the following characters have not yet been confirmed, there is certainly the spaces for their introductions in the near future. To kick it off, we can’t have a Young Avengers team without the powerhouse, Wiccan. He can be teased in the upcoming WandaVision and even has space to appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. Why? Well, because Wiccan is the reincarnated son of the Scarlet Witch! Like his mama, Billy has the power the warp …

‘The Fantastic Four’ Officially Confirmed For MCU

There is so much to cover from this years Comic-con! I will do my best to keep up. First, I think it’s only right to talk about the first family of superheroes- the Fantastic Four. Yes, Kevin Feige, after dropping some major bombs, decided to casually confirm that the heroes WILL be joining the MCU after phase 4. Now, though this might make people upset, the truth is that this will be the shortest phase yet? Yes, phase four seems to conclude with the upcoming Thor film (article coming later) just a mere two years from now. Casting: There is no news regarding casting for the upcoming film. Perhaps at next month’s Disney Expo we can expect to get some more bomb drops like the Blade casting (yup, another article coming on that as well). Personally, just like the rest of the internet, I am really hoping for John Krasinski and partner Emily Blunt to be cast in the roles of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. To me they are a similar case as …

‘Young Justice’ and the Mystery of the Token Gay Character

Young Justice has returned for the second half of its third season over on DC Universe. While I’m enjoying the plot unfold and getting to see more familiar faces for the DC world make their series debut, I am still caught up on trying to figure out just WHO the show-runners were referring to when they said, “gay characters have always been present on the team.” I blogged about this during the first half of the season. Though I haven’t posted reviews for the latest episodes, they did provide more information for who could and couldn’t be ruled out. So, let’s take it from the top people! Team roll call! Just like last time, since Weisman said the character(s) have been present since the end of season two, we will omit the mention of any outsiders or others brought on since the beginning of the current season. S1 characters Nightwing- No. He is very much with Barbara Gordon. Superboy- He is engaged to Miss Martian Miss Martian- ditto Kid Flash- Dead and was with Artemis …

‘Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna’: The End? Really?

I’m an anime nut! This is the first time I’m addressing anime content on the site, and what better IP to break the seal than with the one that got me started back in 1999. Yes, I am Digimon> Pokemon any day of the week! The latter was a cartoon show that served primarily as a commercial for the video games. Digimon, however, was a series that felt like an animated Goonies. Sure, it was plagued with coming out after the similarly named Pokemon, but it was something original! I swear! Anyway, originally released in 1999, Digimon has been around for twenty years and, according to Toei Animation, will take its final bow with the upcoming Digimon Adventure Last Evolution Kizuna. Intelligently, the classic anime remained committed to being a period focused series. Not only did the original premiere in 1999 but the series premieres with the chosen children at summer camp on August 1, 1999. From there the future installments revolved around 2002, 2005, and the final film will be set in 2010. As …

“Euphoria” 1×04: There’s Something About Nate

Las night’s episode of the new hit HBO drama, Euphoria, has my head spinning! First of all, it is hands down the best episode of the season so far. I liked that this time around every character had some stakes in what was going on.  Of course, the thing I was most eager to see was the teased climax of Jules finally meeting the real “Tyler.” Before we get into that however, I think it’s important to side-step and touch on the interaction between Jules and Cal (Eric Dane). After an uncomfortable encounter between the pair at the chili stand, Cal goes out to find Jules. I was expecting this to become violent, aggressive, verbally abusive, etc. However, what we got in the interaction was a complete 180 from Cal. The big, confident, and controlling man folded into fear and surrender. It’s outstanding to me to see the character not only outside of his “head of family” role, but the power role he has played in the glimpses we see of his sexual episodes as …

Halle Bailey is “Under the Sea” as Ariel

oooooo the internet is going to have a field day with this one! Yes, The Grown-ish star has been officially cast to lead Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid as the princess Ariel. I know there are trolls that are going to hate this and I’m sure as I type this Twitter is being showered with haterade. Me? oh this put a smile on my face. I am so happy for Halle Bailey and even more excited for little boys and girls to see this depiction of Ariel. I don’t have much else to say about this other than to express my excitement. Our lead will be joining Melissa Mcarthy’s Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle(!!!!!), and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder. No word yet on who will be playing Prince Eric but I am HOPING they go with a nice handsome Mexican; let’s really punk the racists with this casting. Lastly, yes, I have been listening to “Under the Sea” for this entire entry. Thank you.

‘Young Justice: Outsiders” New Release Schedule

The fan FAVORITE animated series is  set to return this Tuesday, July 2, over on DC Universe. If you liked the release format for the first half of the season- tough luck! The streaming service has decided to go with a different battle plan for the back thirteen. This Tuesday will copy the previous premiere with three episodes (14-16) but after that will switch to one episode per week. This is likely due to the lack of original content hitting the DC streaming service, the cancellation of Swamp Thing, and trying to find ways to keep fans coming back for a longer stretch of time. At the moment we know that there are still a hand full of new shows set to release this year (Stargirl, Harley, and Titans season 2) but will this project get the green light for season four? I hope so! There’s no doubt that the most anticipated series for the streaming service was Young Justice. How often do you hear of not just a series, but an animated one, getting …
