‘Black Adam’ Finds Its Hawkman in Aldis Hodge; Origins of the Golden Age Hero

With Black Adam set to go into production early next year it can only be expected that we would slowly get casting announcements for the Justice Society of America members mentioned at DC Fandome. Today we have confirmation that Hawkman will be played by Aldis Hodge. I have not had the chance to see this actor in anything yet, however, I am aware he stars in Regina King’s One Night in Miami which performed very well at the Venice Film Festival; so certainly bodes well for him not just in the DCEU but in Hollywood in general. I’m sure many fans on Twitter will be clenching their fists like Arthur at this news, but I’m overjoyed! I know Hodge was also in the breakout success The Invisible Man so I may need to check that out and hopefully get a bit more familiar with our new Hawkman! The Justice Society will be starring alongside Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson in Black Adam but we don’t know much else other than this; will this film be a …

Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ Green Lantern Should Be John Stewart

There are still some years from now and the day that Ezra Miller’s Flash hits the reboot button on the DC Extended Universe. Such a reboot will inevitably see Snyder’s Green Lantern and Darkseid potentially merge with, or be cancelled out by, Ava Duvernay’s interpretation and the Green Lantern series coming to HBOMax. I am over the moon excited to know that Green Lantern is officially joining the team for the Snyder Cut (it isn’t JL without a Lantern, I’m sorry) and won’t just make a brief cameo at the end of the movie as originally thought. However, rumors have been leaning towards Hal Jordan joining the rest of the cast; I don’t think this is the way to go. John Stewart is your man and here’s why; 1: Current Lantern in the Book: I believe that if you’re trying to figure out where the studio might be headed character-wise then the comics is a great place to start collecting hints. Since 2018, when Scott Snyder took over Justice League and relaunched the title with …

‘Justice League’ Getting $70 Million in Additional Photography; What’s It All For?

Earlier this year came the announcement that Zack Snyder’s Justice League would get its demanded debut exclusivey on HBOMax. The announcement came with the details that there would be a $20 million investment in order to finish post-production on the “already completed” principal photography. As of yesterday it seems things have changed! The Snyder Cut is now set to receive $70 million that includes a week of reshoots with the main cast… Let’s break this down. 1:The Issue: Look, let’s just address the elephant in the room; the studio did not like what Snyder originally created. They were not on board for Batman v Superman, the film had mixed responses from fans, and overwhelming negative reviews from critics. (To be fair, the theatrical cut of BvS was an absolute nightmare. The “ultimate edition” is not a bonus version of that film; it IS the film. The theatrical cut missed so much of the meat to that story that it ended up not making any sense when you saw it in theaters. I do think the …

“Hogwarts Legacy” Announced; The Future of the Harry Potter Franchise Finally Embraced

Today we got another preview for the upcoming Playstation 5. Won’t lie, the virtual announcement event a couple months ago didn’t really sell me on it! However, this time around we got two featured previews that have caught my attention; one being the official debut game for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There have been games set in this world before, but those were more promotional material for the feature films. This will be the first time that an original openworld RPG will be set at Hogwarts and all I can say is-it’s about F&^*&^ time! These days the creator of the Harry Potter herself, JK Rowling, is under heavy fire for her anti-trans remarks on the internet. Though this has brought into question the future of the franchise, I don’t think this new game is doomed. Properties transcend creators. Just think of Star Wars or virtually any comic book character you’ve ever heard of (Sorry Alan Moore). Harry Potter isn’t immune to this transition. Furthermore this is an IP that isn’t just books, …

‘New Mutants’ SPOILER Review

Thanks to the power of drive-in movie theaters in upstate New York I was finally able to see the (kind of?) anticipated New Mutants. It has been a hot minute since I have been able to review anything so let’s waste no more time; the good and the bad. The GOOD 1: Actors- These are some of my favorite X-book characters, and having them brought to life on screen supplied a fair dose of nerd anxiety. After seeing the cast in the roles I have to say I was satisfied with (most of) the portrayals we got. Ana Taylor-joy as Magik was fun to watch. I think she did a fantastic job of embodying Ilyana. That being said, I don’t know how I felt about her being our stand-in villain until the real villain revealed itself. Any and every scene she appears in she makes an aggressive choice to treat Dani like trash and sprinkle dashes of racism in between. Of course there is an explenation for this down the road, I digress, but overall …
