‘WandaVision’ Now Set to Release in 2020; Are X-Men Closer Than We Think?

As of January 1, 2020 the upcoming Marvel original series for Disney+, WandaVision, will no longer premiere in Spring 2021, as originally intended, but will rather air THIS year, 2020.

Why the change?

Well, it wasn’t too long ago we received confirmation that not only will The New Mutants commit to its (once again) rescheduled April 3, 2020 release but that the film would receive a brand new trailer due out January 6.

Let’s not forget that Wanda, the Scarlet Witch, was originally a reality warping mutant.

Though recent comics have labeled her as the “pretender,” it wouldn’t be crazy to assume that something involved in this new series (which has already confirmed houses the two leads in an alternate reality) could shift something in the MCU cosmos to open the door, or at least crack it a bit, to introduce the X-Men.

WandaVision seems intended to house some horror elements in its new approach. With New Mutants and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness confirmed to bring on the horror, and Elizabeth Olsen guaranteed to appear in Doctor Strange’s sequel, I find that there is even more room and strings to connect the possibility of an X-Men introduction.

Many comic fans will note one of Wanda’s famous lines, “No More Mutants.” It was in her hysteria during the House of M story that she depowered the majority of the planet’s mutant population. Could she perhaps do the reverse in this case? Could she somehow single-handedly bring about the birth of mutants?

I believe Elizabeth Olsen’s role in the future of the decade will be bigger within the MCU. There is no doubt that her relationship with her infamous father, Magneto, is a special one and the fame of her comics favorite son, Wiccan, is an important one.

When exactly will WandaVision air on Disney+ this year? Still no word. With Falcon and the Winter Soldier eying a fall release, it could be likely that the show will shoot for December.
